Live Shows: Ximena Sariñana | Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix, AZ - Crescent Ballroom - April 27, 2025

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Mexican singer-songwriter Ximena Sariñana graced the stage at Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, Arizona, as part of her “Rompe U.S. Tour 2025.” The evening started with an opening performance by special guest Lulú Bulos, setting the tone for a night of captivating music.

Lulú Bulos opened the show in Phoenix with a stunning debut set that immediately captured the room’s attention. Her rich, sweet vocals and emotive set created a dreamlike atmosphere that felt intimate. I was completely mesmerized by the sweetness and clarity of her voice as it soared gracefully through the venue. Experiencing her live for the first time was truly a treat and judging by the captivated expressions around me, I wasn’t alone in feeling that way.

For those unfamiliar with her, Lulú Bulos is a talented singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has performed as a keyboardist for mexican artists such as León Larregui, frontman of the acclaimed band Zoé and Ximena Sariñana. Her experience and artistry were on full display throughout her set. This was her time to shine!

The crowd was visibly engaged, many leaning in and swaying gently, drawn in by her charming stage presence and heartfelt lyrics. Lulú recently released her debut album Todo Vuelve al Mar, a beautifully crafted collection that highlights her poetic sensibility and musical depth. One of the standout moments of her set was the song “Limbo,” which left a lasting impression with its melody and emotional resonance.

Finally, Ximena Sariñana took the stage — a moment I had been eagerly anticipating. I’ve been listening to Ximena since I was in elementary school, so seeing her live for only the second time was incredibly special. The first time was at a large festival, but this time, watching her perform up close in the intimate setting of Crescent Ballroom felt almost surreal.

Over the years, her sound has evolved in beautiful and unexpected ways, and this performance was a testament to that growth. The venue was packed from front to back, buzzing with excitement as fans of all ages waited to see her. Ximena’s stage presence was warm, charming, and effortlessly endearing. At one point, she shared how much she enjoys performing in Phoenix, noting that Crescent Ballroom feels like a second home since she has played there multiple times over the years.

She delivered a set that spanned her entire discography, giving longtime fans a nostalgic journey through her career. Two songs that drew especially enthusiastic reactions were “Las Huellas” and “Cuento”, early tracks that many recognized from the beloved Mexican film Amarte Duele, which was directed by her father. In that film, a young Ximena also played the protagonist’s younger sister, making the performance even more meaningful for those familiar with her early work.

A highlight of the night came when Ximena raised the Mexican flag on stage, a gesture that sparked loud cheers and emotional applause from the crowd. It was a powerful moment of pride and connection. As the evening came to a close, Ximena did something truly awesome. She stayed behind for a full meet and greet with every single fan. It was a beautiful gesture that perfectly reflected the heart and humility she brings to her music and her fans.
