Live Shows: Goose | Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix, AZ - Arizona Financial Theatre - June 14, 2025

Goose took the stage at Arizona Financial Theatre Wednesday, June 4th 2025 in support of their new album “Everything Must Go.”  It marked the band’s first show in Arizona in nearly two years.

Muffled conversations gave way to cheers as the house lights dimmed and the band took the stage around 8 p.m.  The show kicked off with a cover of  “Hot Love & the Lazy Poet” by Vasudo, the band that would later become Goose.

For the next ninety minutes, smiling fans were on their feet moving to the music. A spectacular light show bathed the theatre in a rainbow of colors. The rhythm section provided a rock-solid foundation for lead guitarist Rick Mitarotonda to lay down bluesy riffs and soulful vocals.

Keyboardist Peter Anspach kept busy, picking up his guitar and contributing vocals on several tracks. And as if that weren’t enough, Anspach got the crowd dancing as he became a blur of bouncing motion at the edge of the stage.

The foursome from Wilton, Connecticut played two sets broken up by a thirty minute intermission.  The first set was a slow burn, building in intensity gradually over ninety minutes.  The set included eight songs, reaching a crescendo with “Hungersite” just ahead of the intermission.

The second set dialed up the tempo and the crowd responded.  Building on the momentum of the first set, the band moved through extended versions of original songs “Wysteria Lane”,   “Slow Ready”, and “Dripfield.”  They also included a cover of “Tomorrow Never Knows” by The Beatles.

An encore featuring a cover of “The Way It Is” by Bruce Hornsby and The Range was the perfect end to the evening.

Overall, Goose provided a truly unique experience, fueled by improvisation and exceptional musicianship.  Whether you are a long-time fan or a newcomer to the band, their live experience is highly recommended.
