Live Shows: The Aquabats! | Tempe, AZ
Tempe, AZ - Marquee Theatre - October 9, 2026
Halloween came early as The Aquabats took over the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona on Friday October 9th, 2026. The “Trick-or-Treat to the Beat!” tour featured support from sullvn and Manic Hispanic.
California collective sullvn made the most of their 30 minutes, laying down grooves that were just the right blend of ska and reggae with a touch of pop punk. Highlights included a cover of “The Impression That I Get” by the Mighty Bosstones, with original Bosstones frontman Dicky Barrett on vocals.
Chicano comedy-punk cover band Manic Hispanic lived up to their name, bringing frenetic energy and attitude to the lineup. Highlights included “Barrio Hero”, a reinterpretation of Dropkick Murphy’s “Barroom Hero”, and “Bob” the NOFX punk rock classic.
Headliners The Aquabats emerged from the wings as smoke filled the stage. Sporting their trademark masks and sherbet orange wetsuits, the band took their places. A black-robed figure slowly crept through the hazy stage, arms outstretched. After taking a circuitous path to center stage, the figure slowly removed a rubber jack-o-lantern mask to reveal the MC Bat Commander. With their fearless leader now at the ready, The Aquabats wasted no time getting the party started.
The Aquabats began with a triple creature-feature that included “Fashion Zombies!”, “Cat with 2 Heads”, and fan favorite “Martian Girl!” The 14-song set included songs befitting spooky season, with tales of skeletons, space mummies, and tarantulas.
Other highlights included “Pizza Day!” which included fans crowdsurfing on giant inflatable pizza slices and a cover of the The Cure’s “The Lovecats.”
The Aquabats closed out the show with “Attacked by Snakes!” as a giant white inflatable snake wound its way through the crowd.
After a short break, the band returned to the stage for a 4-song encore. “I Fell Asleep on My Arm” recounted the horror of waking up with a numb limb. “The Shark Fighter!” saw the band unleash a trio of inflatable Great Whites into the crowd, where fans punched, kicked, and rode them around the venue.
The Aquabats ended the evening with the anthemic “Super Rad!” and “Pool Party!”, two fan favorites that got concertgoers dancing one last time. The tour next heads to Sacramento, followed by stops in Pomona, Ventura, San Francisco, and San Diego. The tour concludes on October 24th at the House of Blues Anaheim.
